It's part of the adventure!

Currently In: near South Lake Tahoe, CA
Next up: Northern California, Oregon, Washington and Glacier National Park

We went on three other hikes while we were at Yosemite.
First, we hiked at Merced Grove to see Yosemite's version of Sequoias.
A long, wide path - I loved the pine scent!

Exposed tree roots on our trail

This guy was having lunch right before we did!
Our next hike was along Glacier Road, which had just opened for the summer the day we got to Yosemite.  We decided to do the Sentinel Dome hike where we could see 360 views of the park.  On our way up to Glacier Road we stopped at Tunnel View and looked at one of the most famous vistas in Yosemite.
El Capitan, Half Dome and Bridalveil Falls
Once on the trail, we hiked along an interesting path to the northeast side of the granite hill.

When we got there - snow! Johnny made it up Sentinel Dome easily.

Me - not so much.  The snow combined with my fear of heights made me think twice.  But some college students coming down the hill would not let me turn back and started coaching me.  It's part of the adventure!

The views were spectacular.  I'm so glad I made myself get up that hill.  Plus I couldn't let those young people down.  So much pressure!

I made it down quickly and with no help - sliding on my backside right after Johnny snapped this photo.

On our last full day in Yosemite, we walked to the meadow in the valley after we passed this old ranger station.  I thought this building was really beautiful.

A great view of Half Dome from Cook's meadow.

The wildlife here is very comfortable around people.

I love checking out the old hotels in these National Parks, and the Majestic did not disappoint.  The name of the hotel used to be Ahwahnee, and you can still see the Native American influence.

We finally hiked the Mirror Lake trail.  The lake had a minimal amount of water, but the Tenaya creek was flowing!

And the dogwood trees were blooming - so pretty.

We were on our way back hiking the far side of the lake when the trail washed out!

We had three choices: 1) turn back, 2) take shoes and socks off and wade in cold water across rocks for about 600 feet, 3) go off trail and hike to higher ground.  We chose #3.
Over logs, through brush, steep up and down.

It took some time, but we made it back to the trail and enjoyed the beauty of Yosemite!

It's part of the adventure!
