Rest and Relaxation; Friends and Family

Currently In: Antonito, CO
Heading to New Mexico next week

Johnny and I were looking forward to some R&R after racing around the country for the last several months.   We found it at the Blue Spruce Campground near Vallecito Lake , CO where we stayed for 2 weeks.  We were finally able to enjoy lots of campfires!

But first we got to see Uncle Dave and Aunt Kiyo Stauder!  Such a treat to spend time with them.
They graciously invited us to their"get away" home in Pagosa Springs and after visiting we strolled on the San Juan River Walk.
The River Walk follows the San Juan River which includes some small hot springs.  I stuck my foot in one - hot!  And of course there is the sulphur smell.

You can also see the Springs Resort across the River.  There are several soaking pools here at varying temperatures.  Johnny and I did not get tot town early enough to enjoy them, but going to a hot springs is on my list for another time.
This is the original hotel that was called The Spring Inn.  The hotel has has really expanded!
Outside of the hotel is The Mother Spring.  It provides the hot water for the hotel and the San Juan River provides the cold water to regulate the temperature in the soaking pools.
We hope to see Uncle Dave and Aunt Kiyo again when we are in Albuquerque.

As I wrote in previous posts, our friends Tim and Jenny were also staying at the Blue Spruce while we were there.  We enjoyed hanging out with them!

Their daughters, Lynn and Lana, and their families were able to vacation in Vallecito so they invited us to a cookout.  It was fun to meet them.

Awesome campfire!
We also met Tim and Jenny's friend Leonard.  RV people are the best!

Of course, we had to get in one quick hike.  The Vallecito trailhead is in the National Forest about a mile from the campground.

There was some interesting art on the road that leads to the campground.  First, this wood carving is one of several throughout this area of Southwest Colorado.  They honor the firefighters.
Johnny liked this sculpture. Oh gosh.

We spent plenty of time doing things right in the campground which provided the rest we were looking for.
Starting with watching the Bears in preseason.
Breakfast buffet at the clubhouse.

The craft fair at the pavilion.

Mass at the Clubhouse - not our clubhouse, but down the street at Vallecito RV Resort.  All the Catholic campers didn't have to drive to town!
Just some final shots of our space and our friends.  Good times; good memories.
