Currently In: Moab, UT
Stopping next in Tuba City, AZ on our way to Phoenix
We have experienced a bunch of rain in the last week or so. We had a couple of rainy days in Bryce and it rained both days in Thompson. It's only rained 5 times in Moab since last December, but it's rained everyday that we have been here so far!
We won't let it stop us!
We took a drive on 128 going from Moab to Cisco, UT known as the Colorado River Scenic Byway. Even on a cloudy, drizzly day it was extraordinary.
While it was raining we stopped at Red Cliffs Lodge to walk around the Cowboy Movie Museum.
We saw a video about all the movies that were filmed in this area. John Ford was particularly fond of this scenic backdrop so movies like Rio Grande and Wagon Master were filmed locally. Many commercials and other current films (Lone Ranger, City Slickers) were filmed here too. Lots of artifacts, like this one from Thelma and Louise - the dummy that went off the cliff.
Johnny was loving it! John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
When we stepped out, the rain had stopped and we enjoyed the scenery in the Castle Valley.
The Colorado River running next to the colorful rocks was cool.
We drove a side road to take a closer look at the Fischer Towers.
More beautiful parts of the Grandstaff Canyon.
We finished the day off at the Moab landmark Woody's Tavern. A perfect dive bar.
It's famous for names carved into the bar.
Tomorrow we will look for the sun!
