Visiting with friends

In Phoenix
Heading to Tucson in a couple days

The last few weeks have given us ample opportunity to visit with friends in Arizona.  In addition to having dinner with Dan and Debby Miksta from Inland Steel a couple of times, we met with Tom Aceto and his wife, as well as MJ Hotaling with her family members.  I know them from my work days as well.

We enjoyed many good times with Joan and Greg Christiansen too.  One night Joan prepared a seafood dinner for us and friends.  Delicious and fun!

Anne Marie Scott Oates are friends from the Western Suburbs.  They realized we were going to be in the Phoenix area at the same time, so we met for some wine tasting in Cave Creek one night.  So great to see friends from home!

We also got together with Teri and Jim Hay one more time.  They wanted to hike!  We went to Papago Park and hiked up Hole in the Rock.  It looks like some of the natural phenomenon we saw in Arches National Park and was formed the same way.
The ancient Hohokam lived here thousands of years ago.  They used the movement of the sun and subsequent shadows in the hole to mark a calendar of sorts.  We hiked up the back side of the mountain and arrived to this unique view.
Johnny and Jim are ready through the hole to walk to get in the sun on the other side.
Papago Park has a beautiful pond just beneath the rock.  Love those Palms!
So we hiked around the pond there, too, and saw this regal Snowy Egret.

We enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day with our friends!
